Breaking the barrier for health care

Verkkoterkkarit or "Network Nurses" is a project of Social Services and Health Department of Helsinki. The goal of the project is to give advices on health issues through easy user interface.

The connection is taken through a large Finnish social media site IRC-Galleria with 1-1 chat. The chat is embedded to the community that is created for Verkkoterkkarit.

Anonymous chat has a low barrier to connect to a nurse. Young people dont need to fear that they are present with their own name or their messages can be seen by their friends or random Internet users. They also can talk more easily on hard subjects with the nurses.
