Docventures is a television show and phenomenon in Finland. The show concentrates on difficult subjects like mass production of meat, religion, sexuality and violence. The television show has two parts. A document and an discussion on the studio after the document.

Ninchat was an integral part of the format. It is used by the people who are watching the television show to talk with each other. This gives a possibility to watch the show together with other viewers and also to talk with people who are live in the studio.

Docventures is a forerunner in building new kind of participatory audience engaging television formats online. Format is bringing people to watch the show live on media´s own website instead of watching from traditional TV. This increases user´s time spent on website and provides countless engagement opportunities to media while increases customer loyalty.

There were a lot of social media channels used and it was a good example how to integrate people into a live tv show. Verkkoterkkarit or "Network Nurses" is a project of Social Services and Health Department of Helsinki. The goal of the project is to give advices on health issues through easy user interface.

The connection is taken through a large Finnish social media site IRC-Galleria with 1-1 chat. The chat is embedded to the community that is created for Verkkoterkkarit.

Anonymous chat has a low barrier to connect to a nurse. Young people dont need to fear that they are present with their own name or their messages can be seen by their friends or random Internet users. They also can talk more easily on hard subjects with the nurses.

YLE, the national broadcasting company of Finland is piloting a Second Screen application for Ipad. This includes Ninchat which is embedded into the application.

The application allows spectators to talk with each other during television shows. This makes the television more interactive and creates a co-watching environment. We are very excited about this, as the experiences have been good. It is fun to communicate with people who are watching the same show.
